Environmental Reporting

Do sustainability requirements mean unproductive red tape for Norwegian businesses?

The answer is a clear no. However, many companies find that manual environmental reporting consumes valuable work hours.

When data on environment, emissions, and energy consumption must be manually retrieved from different suppliers, the requirements quickly become a burden. However, evidence shows that structured insight into one's own consumption eliminates the paperwork and turns the requirements into pure business value.

Most companies today have access to hourly consumption data from their electricity supplier. The real value of this comes when this data is integrated into an energy monitoring system.

When the system automatically retrieves and collects the data, it significantly simplifies the work for ESG managers. You save valuable time, cut administrative costs, and gain full control over the company's actual emissions and climate impact.

Customers finally feel they are getting help

For companies with significant energy consumption, the transition from manual Excel spreadsheets to fully automated solutions has been a significant relief.

"Especially customers who use over 1.5 GWh, and who learn that all this reporting can happen automatically, finally feel that they are getting help now," says Sigurd Martinsen, energy advisor at Noova.

Even if you lead a small or medium-sized business where climate requirements may not yet dominate daily operations, you are directly affected by the changes around you. Large corporations and public entities are required to document the climate footprint of their entire value chain. As a subcontractor, you must therefore be able to demonstrate good energy efficiency to remain a relevant and qualified partner in tender processes.

Cutting consumption not only reduces the electricity bill, it also has a direct and measurable effect on the company's financing. Banks require sustainability documentation to offer their best loan terms.

"Noova's calculator documents energy measures in a structured way. This forms the basis for qualifying for green loans and better loan terms from the bank," concludes Martinsen.
