At the heart of Kvavikstranda in Lyngdal, a targeted modernisation of camping operations is taking place. Here, energy savings are transformed into guest experiences.

“We want to create a place where people thrive and want to return to, while operating smartly, profitably and more sustainably,” says Bjørnar Mørenskog, General Manager of Camp Lyngdal.
There are a lot of campsites. And then there are places like this. Here you will find mini golf, games, water games, a fire pit and the district's most beautiful fairytale barn. It's freshly drained, dry and fine, even when the southern weather tests its mood. Modern service buildings and facilities. The kiosk is like an excerpt from a Willy Wonka fairy tale, just a little too difficult to just walk past.
An eldorado to be a guest, and at the same time a lot to do. Maintenance, logistics, drainage and energy, there are many functions to be solved.
Together with Noova, they considered the possibilities of how the campsite could be developed further. Through energy consulting, they looked at solutions to adapt to a market with increasing power demand. With the new EOS, they got a full overview of power consumption and leaks. They switched to air-to-water heat pumps, which provide more affordable heating of water, and make it possible to offer guests free showers. They upgraded windows and doors to three-layer glass, and improved insulation in buildings and facilities.
Mørenskog says that the goal of energy saving is offensive development rather than passive cost cuts.
“With Noova Energy Systems we have saved a lot of energy and easily documented to Enova. All in all, great value that we have used to further develop Camp Lyngdal into something completely adventurous.
“When we can drive smarter and more sustainably at the same time, that's gold,” he continues.
Camp Lyngdal has increased its activity with more guests, more rooms and more use of buildings and facilities. With energy advice and energy monitoring, they have nevertheless reduced their electricity consumption by around 100,000 kilowatt hours a year.
It means a lot to our result. This goes right on the bottom line every year,” says Mørenskog. The savings and Enova support are reinvested directly in the campsite to create a future-oriented destination in Lyngdal.
“What Camp Lyngdal has achieved is impressive. It is very impressive when we see that our systems contribute to value creation in this way,” says Sigurd Martinsen at Noova Energy Systems.
The beach is cleared and there is room for both play and book. The bathing piers solid and enticing. Here you get a good neighbor, there is free WiFi and good coverage. Except in the woods. It can't be guaranteed. Have a good trip!
