Since 2004, Jæren Overflatebehandling has provided industrial surface treatment to the offshore industry. They specialize in energy-intensive processes such as wet painting, sandblasting, and metallization, and have extensive experience with technically demanding projects.
When the company moved into new premises in 2022, they lacked an overview of the actual energy consumption of their fans, compressors, and machinery. The challenge was to map operating hours and identify unnecessary energy use to run the new facility as optimally as possible.
By installing a real-time meter, the company gained "live" insights every ten seconds. This made it possible to fine-tune their machinery, resulting in the base load being reduced by a full 56% (from 72 kWh to 46 kWh). The company now has full control and receives automatic notifications for illogical consumption.
It's a common misconception that new buildings and modern equipment automatically ensure optimal operation. When Jæren Overflatebehandling moved in 2022, they quickly discovered the need for deeper insight. Through Noova's energy and follow-up system, they gained the tools needed to look beyond the numbers.
"There's a lot to gain by fine-tuning consumption and measuring operating hours – especially regarding the base load," explains Sigurd Martinsen at Noova. By continuously measuring consumption and receiving notifications if anything deviates from the norm, Jæren Overflatebehandling can now focus on its core business, confident that energy use is as low as possible.
